The Anti-Corruption Commission on Wednesday submitted a charge-sheet into the Rana Plaza construction forgery case after a day adding the name of building owners’ son, Sohel Rana, as a defendant.
Investigation officer of the case SM Mofidul Islam submitted the charge-sheet before a Dhaka special judge court, said Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya, public relations officer of the commission.
The commission on June 15 filed a case against 17 people, including Rana’s parents Abdul Khalek and Morjina Begum, whose names were mentioned in the documents of ownership, and Savar municipality mayor Refayet Ullah, with Savar model police station.
ACC said it included Rana’s name in the charge sheet as one of the main accused, for his alleged involvement in tampering with the construction of the collapsed building.
Rana Plaza collapsed in Savar on April 24, 2013 killing 1,138 people – most of them were female garment workers.
