Alleged ‘trafficker’ killed in ‘gunfight’ with rivals in Cox’s Bazar

A suspected member of an international human trafficking gang was allegedly killed in a gunfight with rivals in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Amanullah Anu, 30, son of Mohammad Safi, a resident of Block-H of Rohingya refugee camp in the upazila, United News of Bangladesh reports.
Police said two rival groups of human traffickers exchanged fires at Alikhali Labon maath early in the morning.
Police rushed to the spot and recovered the body of Anu.
Ataur Rahman Khandakar, officer-in-charge of Teknaf police station, confirmed the incident.
Mohammad Ullah, an official of Nayapara Rohingya refugee camp, said Amanullah was a ‘listed member’ of an international human trafficking gang.
